STRATEGIES OF SUCCESSFUL AND UNSUCCESSFUL LEARNERS OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AT COLLEGE LEVEL

Abstract


ABSTRACT

The present study explores the comparison between successful and unsuccessful learners concerning the use of learning strategies. Six students from three universities were participated in the study. They were classified into either successful or unsuccessful according to their language class grades, ability to use the language, more experience of language proficiency, TOEFL score and the ones who gained the lowest score and the highest score (GPA). The findings of the study was that, successful students tend to spend more time to learn the language outside Campus than unsuccessful learners and Successful learners used all strategies where unsuccessful learners did not use all the strategies.
